The top 5 most popular Street Photography Spots in London!

The top 5 most popular Street Photography Spots in London!

If you dream of becoming a street photographer but you don’t know where to go, this blog series will be covering my personal favourite places in London, some of which are the most common ‘photographer playgrounds’ that you really must visit.

I see so many street photographers in these spots and there are a lot of famous and familiar pictures out there that were taken in these locations. However, this doesn’t mean that there isn’t a chance for you to show your creativity and come up with something that no one else has ever seen before.

What I love about street photography is that it can always be different, because us as humans are all unique and see things differently.

Street photography records human history, the moments created by individuals that you pass by, capture and freeze in the shot, how fast you take it and how precise you see the moment.

We are recording real life history that will last forever… and even aliens will appreciate after humans are extinct…oh, well…perhaps I got a bit carried away there…

The key to creating something different is to try and be different; think differently, use different angles, don’t be afraid to kneel or lie on the ground if that’s what you have in your mind, and not care about what other people think is important when you shoot in the street.

If you’ve put your mind on getting one specific shot then ‘just do it’ and stick to your plan… and always rock & roll!

Without further ado… my number one place and also one of the most popular street photographer playgrounds is….

#1 Tate Modern

I love this place, it has a bit of a Barbican feel to it, so-called brutal architecture!

I would say that these places are either loved by my followers on LinkedIn or hated…

Some people only see the big, cold structures that are almost anti-humanity, but I see the beauty in the textures and scale of this modern world.

Come away with me;

This has to be one of my most liked pictures on Instagram. It’s my post-processing that made the shape like a boat, which is why I came up with this title for it. My work represents and reflects my mind when I see the images on my computer screen, and I wanted to take the viewers somewhere peaceful…

Lullaby;

I saw many similar pictures from this staircase taken by other photographers, but what made the difference with my work is that I caught the moment when the subject’s eyes were levelled with the line on the wall and also, just in the nick of time, I had eye contact with him through my viewfinder… and that was the moment that gave me goosebumps…haha…

Flow;

Yes, this was taken on the same staircase but I used long exposure with my small but mighty Fujifilm x100f. I didn’t have my tripod with me so it was taken handheld. A quick tip for taking a clean handheld long exposure shot is to take multiple shots one after another, and then you will have at least one sharp shot out of them all…and of course, you need to have non-alcoholic, non-shakey hands too, haha

Sorrow…Saturday 29.10.2022;

I don’t think many people will remember this day unless you are Korean or live in Korea.
There was a massive crowd of people all dressed in Halloween costumes in a busy part of Seoul, South Korea, on this day, The overcrowding led to nearly 160 deaths… I was taking pictures at the Tate Modern when this happened and this girl, I presume she was Korean, was looking at her phone while walking down the steps and then she was completely frozen for a very long time. I didn’t know what had happened at the time but I felt sadness in her… when I heard the news later then everything made sense to me… it was a tragic and heartbreaking story so I couldn’t post this picture for a while afterwards.

So this became my story, we all have different stories to tell… so what is yours?

I have so many pictures and stories to tell but I’ll save more for another day…

I sell my artwork as fine art prints and I also do headshots, events, portraits, and property photography too, so please get in touch through the contact form on my website with any enquiries!

Thank you and stay tuned 🤘
